You're wrong, a year ago

So, what's got me pissed off this week?

Let's see. Taxes. But not this years taxes, last years. Apparently it's not bad enough to find out that there was a mistake on my taxes last year, but they have charged me arrears on the difference for the 11 1/2 months it's taken them to find the problem. If there is a legit mistake, and I owe money, fine. I can deal with that. Take a year to find it? I'm not happy about that but I realize that there are a few tax returns to sort through over the course of a year, so I'll put up with that. But charge arrears back to when I filed almost a year earlier, and then give me two weeks to pay? Get stuffed. It took a week for the letter to get to me.

So if I have a refund that is a year late, would they give me interest?
Hmm

The worst part is, I'd like to talk to somebody and tear a strip off them. However, I know full well that anybody that I get to talk to on the phone is just as powerless as I am about the situation, and regardless of how much better it makes me feel, bitching them out is just going to make their day worse. And then I'll get some little black mark beside my name, and I'll be sure to get an audit every year till the Green Party forms a majority.

Is there a moral to the story? No. I'm talking about taxes, there are no morals. Just ask Conrad.
